Chicoutimi’s Tourigny suspended for Memorial Cup for skate-stomping match penalty
KELOWNA — The Canadian Hockey League has suspended Chicoutimi Saguenéens defenceman Jordan Tourigny for the remainder of the Memorial Cup after he was assessed a match penalty in Tuesday’s loss to the Kitchener Rangers.
The 21-year-old from Victoriaville, Que., was ejected for stomping on the skate of Kitchener forward Christian Humphreys during the third period of the Rangers’ 3-2 victory.
Humphreys dropped to the ice in pain and left the game without returning.
The CHL said Wednesday that the NHL, which handles discipline matters at the tournament, reviewed the incident and recommended the suspension.
