Prince Albert Police have arrested a 24-year-old man and a 15-year-old boy in separate incidents during the final hour of the Prince Albert Exhibition on Sunday.

Police said they were called to the first incident at around 11 p.m. for a hit-and-run on 10th Avenue East near the entrance to the exhibition grounds.

Upon arrival, officers located a nine-year-old boy lying on the ground. He was quickly tended to by Parkland Ambulance and taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The vehicle involved fled the scene and was later spotted by officers in the 100 block of River Street West, where they conducted a traffic stop, and the driver was arrested without further incident.

As a result, the 24-year-old driver has been charged with failure to stop at the scene of an accident. He also received a ticket for driving without a license, and the vehicle was impounded for a month.

The second incident happened less than an hour after police received the call about the hit-and-run.

At around 11:45 p.m., officers were on routine foot patrol at the exhibition when they got word that a man had deployed bear spray at someone.

Police quickly located a man matching the description, who then attempted to flee on foot. A short foot pursuit ensued before the suspect pointed the bear spray at one of the officers. The man continued to resist but was arrested a short time after.

Parkland Ambulance was called to the scene and treated multiple people that were suffering from the effects of bear spray.

Following the arrest, the 15-year-old suspect has been charged with assaulting police (x2), assault with a weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a weapon, and resisting arrest.
