A-O-vertime hero: Oiring leads Raiders over Rebels
With the Prince Albert Raiders losing three straight games, they were in need of a win on Friday as they went into Red Deer to take on the Rebels who were fighting for their playoff lives. After a wild west of a first period with six goals, the Raiders would go to overtime with a hat trick performance from Aiden Oiring ended things in overtime 4-3.
The Raiders on special teams started things off at the 3:36 mark when Daxon Rudolph sent the puck to the middle of the point for Tomas Mrsic. He fired a shot on goal that hit the post and popped out to the slot for Aiden Oiring battling for position, and he potted it for his first of the night and 26th of the season.
Then the Rebels went on a run. It started at the 8:59 mark when Jaxon Fuder picked up the puck behind his net and brought the puck up the right wall, then cut left over the red line and went down the left wall in the Raiders zone. He took it behind the net before coming out front on his forehand, ripping a shot on goal to score.
At the 12:55 mark, Fuder made a similar play, coming around behind the net and firing, but his shot was blocked but still came to the front of the net. Gleb Semenov hammered at the rebound and practically climbed overtop of Dimitri Fortin in goal to put the rebound home.
