Charges laid after fatal rollover north of Prince Albert

A woman alleged responsible for a fatal rollover north of Prince Albert, has been charged with impaired driving, dangerous driving and operating a conveyance causing death.

Destiny Michel, 33, from Prince Albert, is scheduled to appear at Prince Albert Provincial Court on Feb. 13.

On August 4, 2024, Prince Albert RCMP received a report of a single vehicle rollover on Whitfield Road, in the Rural Municipality of Buckland.

Officers immediately responded. The passenger, a 32-year-old woman from Pelican Narrows, was declared deceased by EMS at the scene. A source close to the incident, confirmed her identity to be Esther McCallum.

Both the driver and an adult male passenger were taken to hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening in nature.

Buckland Fire and Rescue also responded to the scene on the gravel road with seven firefighters and two vehicles.

Firefighters helped paramedics with patients and removed one person from the vehicle and helped put them in the ambulance.
