The Prince Albert Raiders added to their goaltender depth on Wednesday when they issued a 6th round pick in 2028 to the Moose Jaw Warriors in exchange for 2006-born goaltender Dimitri Fortin.

Originally from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Fortin posted a 0.901 save percentage in 12 games with the Warriors in last year’s WHL Championship run, with a record of 6-4-0-0 (W-L-OTL-SOL). This year he’s played in five games, a little behind his pace last year at 0.863 and 1-2-0-0.

He also earned WHL Rookie of the Week in March of last season.

Before that, Fortin played his AAA with the Winnipeg Bruins U18 program in Manitoba where, during his 17-year-old season, he posted a 0.911 save percentage through 24 games in the regular season, and he got even better through 10 games in the playoffs where he hit 0.929. He was named Winnipeg AAA U18 Goaltender of the Year.

Fortin joins the Raiders goaltending squad with 20-year-old Max Hildebrand, along with 2007-born Cooper Anderson. The Raiders also recently called up 2006-born Hudson Sedo on a tryout, but after backing up for one game he has since returned to the Canmore Eagles of the Alberta Junior Hockey League.
