RCMP in search of missing inmate from Willow Cree Healing Lodge

UPDATE: Nigel Ferster has been apprehended by RCMP.

A man who was in custody at the Willow Cree Healing Lodge is now on the run.

Nigel Ferster was one of two inmates found unaccounted for when staff at the minimum-security federal institution conducted their count on Sunday afternoon.

Ricky Black was later apprehended by Rosthern RCMP in Duck Lake.

Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) continues to work with police to locate Ferster.

He is 28 years old, measures 165 cm (5’5″) in height and weighs 122 kg (270 lbs). He has a fair complexion, hazel eyes and black hair.

Ferster is serving a sentence of two years and 14 days for break and enter with intent, flight from a peace officer, dangerous operation of a conveyance and possession of break-in instruments.

Anyone who has information on the whereabouts of Ferster is asked to contact the police.

CSC will investigate the circumstances of this incident.
