Prince Albert was well represented this past weekend at the Canadian Taekwon-Do Federation International (CTFI) Western Canadian Taekwon-Do championships in Regina.

The tournament provides black belts the opportunity to earn seeding points for the nationals and team selection.

Results from day one:

Jared Poirier – Silver, Junior Male First Dan Patterns

Erica Jacobson – Silver, Pre-Junior Female First Dan Patterns

Blayze Smith – Bronze, Pre-Junior Male First Dan Patterns

Nickolai Roussow/Jared Poirier – Gold, Pre-Arranged Sparring.

Lucian Phillips, head instructor at North Wake Martial Arts, attributed the club’s success to their intensive training.

“We have a very competitive style of training but in a fun and positive way so everyone enjoys what they do.”

The next tournament will be the Nationals/North American Championships in May.
