One of the country’s more popular TV shows is coming back and some people in Saskatchewan may recognize a familiar face.

Season Two of Shoresy, the hit hockey comedy and Letterkenny spinoff, launches on Crave on Sept. 29 with Flying Dust First Nation’s own Jon Mirasty returning as one of the three Jims.

His character along with the other two Jims, played by former hockey players and brothers Brandon and Jordan Nolan, have become fan favourites.

Mirasty, who is a former professional hockey player, joked to meadowlakeNOW that he gets more recognition playing a hockey player on TV than he does for his actual career.

“It’s kind of amazing… just how popular the show has become. I’ll be walking down an airport, and someone will say ‘Hey Jim.’”

Since Season Two hasn’t come out, Mirasty can’t talk about any scenes or his character in depth. However, he believes fans of the three Jims should have a fun time.

“Our roles are growing, and they’ll continue to grow,” said Mirasty.

Production was again shot in Sudbury, Ontario, taking about five to six weeks to complete. This time around was easier for Mirasty as the nerves of acting in front of a camera all but disappeared. He compared it to a veteran hockey player coming back after having the summer off.

“You go back, and you know what to expect so (shooting) the second season was a lot more enjoyable,” Mirasty added.

Despite being somewhat new to the industry, Mirasty has received offers from other TV shows. While he said he was honoured, he had to refuse since most of his time is spent being one of the Councillors for the Flying Dust First Nation.

“It’s always been a goal of mine to help lead my community and my First Nation.”

Mirasty did mention he’d be more than happy to continue playing one of the three Jims if given the opportunity.
