Finalists named for Samuel McLeod Business Awards

The Prince Albert and District Chamber of Commerce has released the finalists for this year’s Samuel McLeod Business Awards (SMBAs) with a plethora of local businesses up for awards in a variety of categories.

Phantom Light Distillery, River Park Funeral Home & Prince Albert Memorial Gardens, and WillowGrove Pharmacy are the finalists for Business of the Year.

Amy Lamb, with WillowGrove Pharmacy, Colette McDermott of Colette Portamedic Services, and Colin Fraser at OK Tire and Auto Services are this year’s nominees for Business Leader of the Year. For Business Transformation, the nominees were Feher Financial, Lakeland Hyundai, and Tru-North Yamaha and Marine.

In the category of Community Involvement, the finalists were Diamond North Credit Union, Mann-Northway Chevrolet Buick GMC, and River Park Funeral Home and Prince Albert Memorial Gardens. Diamond North Credit Union was also a finalist for Customer Service alongside Lake Country Co-op and Ricky’s All-Day Grill.

Sixth Avenue Car Wash and Auto Glass, Community Service Centre, and Mont St. Joseph Home are finalists for Diversity in the Workplace. ABM Plumbing and Heating, Athabasca Basin Development, and Media Made Simple are up for Indigenous Business of the Year.

For Micro Enterprise of the Year, the finalists were ABM Plumbing and Heating, Aurora Chiropractic, and Feher Financial. KIN Enterprises, Mont St. Joseph Home, and the YWCA were the finalists for Non-Profit Organization.

Dane Sanderson of Media Made Simple, Kayanna Wirtz and Tia Furstenberg of Lemon Yellow Art Studio, and Tayler Korycki from Korycki Mechanical Inc. are vying for the Young Entrepreneur Award.

Finally, Aurora Chiropractic, Lemon Yellow Art Studio, and Phantom Light Distillery are the finalists in the category of New Venture. For Marketing, the finalists are Hope’s Home, Korycki Mechanical Inc, and Phantom Light Distillery.

The awards will be given out at a luncheon on April 14 at Plaza 88. Registration is available through the chamber.
