Canadian Tire Toffifee campaign aiming to raise $25K for Hope’s Home

People in Prince Albert can once again buy a box of chocolate to support a local non-profit.

Canadian Tire is once again selling thousands of boxes of Toffifee, with one dollar from each one sold going to Hope’s Home, a childcare centre for children with complex needs.

“It’s a cult thing in Prince Albert and dentists love us,” joked Malcolm Jenkins, the owner of P.A.’s Canadian Tire.

Last year, the fundraiser supported the Rose Garden Hospice which is slated to open up in March.

Now that the project doesn’t need any more funding, a decision had to be made on who would be a part of this year’s campaign. Jenkins explained the decision ended up being quite easy.

“We’re continually impressed by the work they do, helping kids who’ve fallen between the cracks in the medical system and education system.”

The goal for this fundraiser is to sell around 25,000 boxes.

Mickey MacGillivray, the provincial fundraiser manager for Hope’s Home, told paNOW they were creating a video recognizing all their supporters, including Canadian Tire, when they found out they were being included in the fundraiser.

She said the money they get will be used to fund some of their programs.

“A lot of our programs are funded by the Ministry of Education or the Ministry of Health but there’s a lot in Hope’s Home that isn’t.”

So far, around one-third of the 25,000 boxes have been sold. This year, there’s also a choice between chocolate and white chocolate. They’re available at Canadian Tire and Party City.

“You can try chocolate and white chocolate; you can go back and forth and have the best of both worlds and that’s two dollars for Hope’s Home,” added MacGillivray.
