Two candidates running in Lakeland by-election  

Voters in Division 2 of the District of Lakeland will vote next month for a new municipal representative.  

Scott Kowblick and Mike Sands have both submitted nominations for the seat left vacant by the resignation of Cheryl MacMillan, as of June 1.  

Advance polls run on August 17, between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., and voting day is August 22, starting at 9 a.m. and finishing at 8 p.m. All voting will happen at the District Office council chambers.  

People will need to bring ID to vote, such as a driver’s license, passport or birth certificate. Voters must be Canadian citizens, at least 18 years old and meet the eligibility requirements of the Local Government Election Act.
