Prince Albert accessibility meeting hears calls for quicker fixes, long-term planning
Prince Albert residents with disabilities say small changes could make a major difference as the city works through its new accessibility plan for people with ability challenges.
The City of Prince Albert held its third Accessibility Public Feedback Group meeting Tuesday at the Alfred Jenkins Field House, combining the discussion with a community accessibility fair, inclusive playground programming and a barbecue.
The outdoor event was meant to give people with lived experience of disability, their families and community organizations a chance to talk about barriers in Prince Albert and suggest practical improvements.
Anna Dinsdale, community safety well-being manager with the city, said the feedback group grew out of the city’s accessibility plan, which was approved by council last year.
