Children’s Hospital Radiothon Supporting Innovative Surgical Equipment and Therapies Nov. 8 and 9

Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation Radiothon presented by CIBC Wood Gundy is going province-wide on November 8th and 9th to raise funds to enhance critical care by purchasing innovative surgical equipment and supporting lifesaving therapies at Saskatchewan’s Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital (JPCH).

Over the next two days, listeners from all across Saskatchewan will hear inspirational stories from children, families, and health care professionals in JPCH from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily across 25 radio stations.

Donations made to Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Radiothon will be used to purchase equipment for innovative surgeries, increase capacity of care for scoliosis patients, and provide lifesaving therapies for acute kidney patients at Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital.

Enhancements and additions of equipment are needed to provide ongoing surgical care in Saskatchewan. Over *20,000 Saskatchewan kids each year go through the JPCH Emergency Room (Children’s Emergency Services) with over *53% of surgical pediatric patients traveling from outside of Saskatoon. Purchasing critical care equipment allows families to stay in their home province for lifesaving surgeries and treatments.

The JPCH Out-Patients Unit sees over *30,000 Saskatchewan children in total patient visits annually.

Donations will also be matched up to $150,000 by dedicated, loyal supporters Gord and Barb Broda of Prince Albert. “Everybody needs to know that the fundraising needs do not end now that the hospital is built. There’s a constant need for specialized equipment to keep our children’s hospital the best that it can be. This is an opportunity for everyone in Saskatchewan to do something that will benefit this amazing hospital and it will make a difference in people’s lives when they need it most,” said Gord. “Every single dollar donated matters. Every single penny,” adds Barb.

“The vital work of a provincial children’s hospital doesn’t end at the ribbon cutting ceremony. Each day sees new challenges and extraordinary needs for sick babies, children, youth, and at-risk moms-to-be. Our efforts at Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation are lifesaving and life altering. Each dollar raised through this provincial Radiothon will support critical care equipment for Saskatchewan’s youngest patients,” said Brynn Boback- Lane, President and CEO of Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation.

Saskatoon listeners can hear the Radiothon by tuning in to 600 CJWW and 96.3 CRUZ FM on both days, or 650 CKOM and C95 on Nov 9. Regina listeners can turn the dial to Play 92.1 and 104.9 The Wolf each day. Stations from Prince Albert include Power99, Beach Radio 101.5 and 900 CKBI, while North Battleford stations include 1050 CJNB, Q98 and 93.3 THE ROCK.

Meadow Lake’s 102.3 CJNS and Missinipi Broadcasting Co are also participating. Fox FM and GX94 from Yorkton, as well as CJVR FM and 750 Beach Radio from Melfort are also broadcasting the Radiothon.

Listeners can also tune into 107.5 Bolt FM in Humboldt, 800 CHAB in Moose Jaw and Country 104.9 FM in Kindersley. The Eagle 94.1 FM in Swift Current, Cat Country 98.1 FM in Assiniboia, and AM 1190 Radio in Weyburn are also broadcasting the event.
