‘We haven’t put a dent in the problem yet’: rescue worker calls dog situation at Pelican Narrows a crisis
A front-line animal rescue worker, working on the ground this week in Pelican Narrows and actively retrieving dogs from the community, is describing the situation as a crisis.
Chelsie Breeze, founder of Boreal Animal Rescue in La Ronge, was in the community on Wednesday and then returned again on Thursday.
“I’ve never seen anything quite like this and there are just so many dogs that are unowned, stray, not being taken care of properly,” she told paNOW. “It’s gonna take a lot of work before this community feels they have room to breathe.”
Months ago, prior to Monday’s dog attack in which a young woman was critically injured, the band contacted Running Wild Rescue for help. And they in turn, due to the enormity of the situation at hand, contacted the Boreal group.
