COVID levels are on the rise in Prince Albert, however, schools won’t be bringing in any mandatory COVID-19 restrictions for the time being.

According to researchers with the University of Saskatchewan, who’re studying the virus through the community’s wastewater, the current viral load is the fourth largest reported during the pandemic.

The Saskatchewan Rivers Public School Division and Prince Albert Catholic School Division are sharing similar messages to staff and students, nothing is mandatory but certain measures are still encouraged.

This includes masking, though, those who don’t want to wear one don’t have to. Masks are being made available for those who want one.

Proper sanitation is also something both divisions continue to promote such as wiping down surfaces and washing hands regularly.

Lorel Trumier, Director of Education for the Prince Albert Catholic School Division, said they’re also providing rapid tests for anyone who wants to double-check whether or not they have the virus. This includes parents and guardians.
