Raiders roster moves: Kingerski acquired, roster cut down for regular season

The Prince Albert Raiders made some roster moves Tuesday, including the acquisition of 2008-born forward Carter Kingerski.

The Raiders sent a conditional 2030 sixth-round pick to the Tri-City Americans in return.

Kingerski is entering his second full season in the WHL as an 18-year-old. Last year with the Americans, he posted 3G-7A-10P in 45 games. The year prior, Kingerski played a full season of MJHL hockey mostly with the Winnipeg Freeze, along with three games with the Niverville Nighthawks, where he posted 12G-18A-30P in 49 games.

“Carter is a highly skilled player with a really good game sense,” said Raiders General Manager Curtis Hunt in a release. “A new environment can kick-start a player’s career and we believe this is the case for Carter.”

Aside from the acquisition of Kingerski, the Raiders have also sent a few players home after their preseason tryouts.

The Raiders have reassigned 2009-born defenceman Nathan Castonguay to the Alberta Junior Hockey League’s Fort McMurray Oil Barons. Castonguay is one of four defencemen the Raiders drafted in 2024 alongside Brock Cripps, Liam Myhre, and Kade Corbet, who will all start the season with the Raiders.

Most notably is 20-year-old Logan Pickford, who was trying to make the Raiders roster after missing all of his 19-year-old season with the Victoria Royals due to injury. Pickford, a former Minto, was injured during one of the Raiders preseason games in Warman.

Along with Pickford, the Raiders released forwards Brendyn Van Oene, Tate Hanson, and defenceman Tyler McCracken.
