Arsonist targets bathroom accessories and ladies undergarments

Jul 11, 2022 | 5:00 PM

Prince Albert police are investigating an incident that happened Friday afternoon at the local Wal-Mart.

Sometime after 4 p.m., multiple fires were set inside the store. The fires were extinguished by staff prior to the fire department’s arrival.

A store manager told paNOW the fires were set in the ladies’ fashion section (bras and underwear) and amongst the bath towels.

He said staff were notified by customers, adding in one case it was a customer who grabbed a fire extinguisher and put out the flames.

The manager also explained all three fires happened fast and were put out quickly. He estimated the value of the damage to be a few hundred dollars.

The store does have security cameras and the footage is being reviewed as part of the investigation.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Prince Albert Police Service or Crime Stoppers.
