PA golfer looking to make it four at Mid-Am Championships

Danny Klughart is looking to keep the streak alive, all while doing it on his home course.

The local golfer is currently riding on three-consecutive Mid-Amateur Men’s Golf Championships dating back to 2019, and he hopes to make it four next week.

This is the first time since 1996 that the tournament is being held in Prince Albert., and Klughart said that he is confident about going for four on the home green.

“I’ve played here hundreds of times and it is a tricky course, so I think with having that knowledge and that experience on our course, it’s definitely going to help me,” he said.

Online records have been kept of the tournament since 2008, and no golfer has been able to repeat, let alone three-peat, in the Mid-Am’s.

To achieve the four-peat, Klughart said he’s just going to keep playing his game.

“It’s obviously worked well with what I’ve been doing the last couple of years,” Klughart said. “There is some added pressure with it being my home course, but just keep it simple and stay patient and see what happens.”

The Mid-Amateur Men’s Championships go from July 12th-15th at Cooke Municipal Golf Course.

During this time, Cooke Municipal will also be hosting the Men’s and Women’s Amateur Championships that also get started on July 12th and run until the 14th.
