May 26, 2022 | 6:00 PM

Three men are facing charges ranging from second degree murder to being an accessory to the death of Wesley Custer two years ago.

Tyson Lachance, 23, was arrested at the Saskatoon Correctional Centre yesterday and charged with second degree murder and had his first court appearance this morning at Prince Albert Provincial Court.

His next appearance will be on June 23.

Also charged are Evan Ledoux, 34, and Curtis Ledoux, 42.

The string of charges, all connected with the death of Custer in 2020, started with the arrest of Evan on May 19.

Evan was arrested by the Saskatchewan RCMP Crime Reduction and Warrant Enforcement team on outstanding charges from Prince Albert Police Service and Ahtahkakoop RCMP.

He was found driving a vehicle on the Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation and arrested without incident.

Evan’s Ahtahkakoop charges include aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, uttering threats and possession of property obtained by crime.

Police said the incident involved an assault at a residence in the community that led to hospitalization of an injured female.

After consulting with the Crown Prosecutor’s office, Evan was arrested again on May 21 at the PACC and charged with manslaughter for the death of Custer. He will appear in Prince Albert Provincial Court on June 6.

The following day, Curtis was also arrested in connection with Custer’s death and is charged with being an accessory after the fact to murder.

He will appear in Prince Albert Provincial Court on June 6 as well.

Custer, who was 20 when he died, was brought to the Shellbrook Hospital the evening of August 21, 2020 with serious injuries and died shortly afterwards.

Custer was originally from Denare Beach but had moved to the Prince Albert/Montreal Lake area shortly before his death.
