MELFORT, Sask. – Case of equine infectious anemia has been confirmed in west central Saskatchewan.
The horse carrying the virus is in the RM of Rosemount which is between Biggar and Landis.
EIA a viral disease that attacks horses’ immune systems and that is transmittable through bodily fluids. There is no cure, and the disease is generally fatal.
Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) said it is investigating to determine if any other horses were exposed.
