‘It is a real honour’: Wife of Legacy Award winner pleased with recognition

A man who spent over 40 years in Prince Albert’s real estate business has been recognized for his legacy in the community.

The Prince Albert Chamber of Commerce announced the 2021 Legacy Award will go to the late Terry Mason.

Mason passed away last year after retiring from his business, Terry Mason Real Estate.

“It was a privilege to call and let Barb, his wife, know that Terry had been nominated as our legacy recipient,” said CEO of the Chamber of Commerce, Patty Hughes. “The committee felt that this was a way of recognizing Terry’s contributions to the community and the real estate industry.”

“It is a real honour,” said Terry’s wife Barb Mason. “The chamber has selected really great people in the past, and I know Terry would be very honoured to have that recognition.”

When talking about his legacy, Barb not only mentioned Terry’s time as a realtor but how that job connected him to the community.

“He sold real estate over 40 years,” Mason said. “In that time, a lot of his clients actually became sort of long-term friends as well. Terry just was so well known in the community. Housing is such a significant part of people’s lives, and he did form really great relationships with people in the community.”

The Legacy Award recognizes members of the business community who’ve had a positive impact on Prince Albert. Past recipients include Janine Favreau, Roses Stewart, Wayne Hansen and the Horn family.

The Legacy Award Brunch will be held on March 21st at the Coronet Hotel. Finalists for this year’s Samuel McLeod Business Awards will also be announced during that ceremony.
