Raiders look for redemption in Red Deer

Jan 17, 2022 | 12:01 PM

The Prince Albert Raiders hope to rebound on the road as they continue their Alberta road trip.

On Monday, the Raiders head to Red Deer to face the Rebels in the third game of their four-game trek through Alberta.

In their last game on Saturday, the Raiders dropped a 4-1 decision to the Calgary Hitmen with Zachary Wilson scoring the lone goal of the game for the Raiders. Tikhon Chaika made 29 saves in his fourth consecutive start.

Wilson’s goal was his first in the WHL. The rookie from Wetaskiwin, Alta. has points in two of his last three games.

Meanwhile, Ozzy Wiesblatt hopes to extend his point streak in Red Deer. The San Jose Sharks prospect has a point in four consecutive games, a career-best.

These two teams last met on Dec. 29, when the Rebels skated away with an 8-6 victory. Vladislav Shilo had a hat trick while Sloan Stanick had two goals in that loss.

The Rebels are coming off a big 5-2 win over the Medicine Hat Tigers on Sunday. Arshdeep Bains scored the winning marker in that game while Ben King contributed a goal and two assists.

You can catch Monday’s action on 900 CKBI with Rob Mahon starting with the pre-game show at 7:30 p.m. Puck drop is at 8:00 p.m.
