Raiders ready for Blades, hope to keep good play going into holiday break

Dec 17, 2021 | 12:02 PM

Recent trends are pointing towards good things this weekend for the Prince Albert Raiders, as they will hope that’s the case when they take on the Saskatoon Blades for a home-and-home series this weekend.

The Raiders beat the Blades convincingly in both matchups this year, 5-1 on Nov. 5 and 5-2 on Nov. 6. The green and gold have also been playing their best hockey of the season as of late, as they are 4-1-1 in their last six games, including two victories over the CHL’s top team in the Winnipeg ICE.

The latest came on Tuesday at the Art Hauser Centre when Evan Herman led the way with a hat trick in a 4-1 victory. A day later, the ICE headed to the SaskTel Centre and bashed the Blades 6-0.

The Blades started off the season well enough, with an 11-4-1 record by Nov. 12, but have trended downwards as they are 3-8 since then.

Tyson Laventure and Sloan Stanick have led the way for the Raiders offensively, as Laventure has two goals and five points against the Blades this year, while Stanick has three goals and an assist. The Blades only have three goals against the Raiders this year, scored by Tristen Robins, Egor Sidorov, and Jayden Wiens.

Check out Rob Mahon’s calls of both games this weekend, Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 7 p.m on CKBI.
