Province reports 85 new cases, 21 in northern zones of province, one new death

The province has reported 85 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 today; 54 of which are among individuals who are unvaccinated and 21 cases between the ages of 0-11.

Twenty-one new cases are located in the northern zones of the province; the Far North West (seven), Far North East (one), North West (seven), North Central (three), North East (three).

One new deaths reported today bringing the provincial total to 897 Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 have died.

The province is also reporting 69 previously reported cases have been removed from the total case counts. These had been reported as cases in error, as review of these cases found they were negative PCR results. The date of collection for these specimens range from June 27 to Oct. 12, 2021.

There are currently 1,112 cases that are currently considered active, a drop of 89 cases from the total active case count yesterday. A total of 281 cases are active in Northern Saskatchewan, a drop of 24 cases from yesterday’s total northern cases.

There have been 77,601 cases have been recovered cases and a total of 79,610 reported cases since the beginning of the pandemic.

More than one-fourth (25.9 per cent) of new cases are in the age category of 40 to 59.

Two in five (40.6 per cent) of new cases eligible for vaccination (aged 12 years and older) were fully vaccinated.

As of Nov. 16, a total of 171 individuals are being hospitalized; including 129 inpatient hospitalizations, and 42 ICU hospitalizations. Of the 171 patients, 111 (64.9 per cent) were not fully vaccinated.

In addition to Saskatchewan ICU counts, there are 11 residents in out of province ICUs. As these patients are receiving care out of province, this number is not included in the hospitalization counts in the dashboard. Since yesterday’s report, there has been one repatriation.

COVID-19 Summary for November 16, 2021:

From Nov. 10–16, 12,742 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 1,701,734.

As of Nov. 16, 87 per cent of those 12+ have received their first dose and 81 per cent of those 12+ are fully vaccinated.

There were 769 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan from Nov. 10–16, bringing the provincial total to 79,610 cases. There were 989 recoveries recorded during the same period.

Twenty-three new deaths were reported Nov. 10–16.

NITHA numbers

The Northern Inter-Tribal Health Authority (NITHA) reported four new cases NITHA communities on Nov. 15. Of the new cases, three (75 per cent) were unvaccinated and one (25 per cent) was partially vaccinated.

There are 33 active cases of COVID-19 in NITHA communities.
These cases are located in the Far North Central (Athabasca), 0; Far North West, 14; Far North East, six; North Central, 11; and North East, two. There have been 6824 cases (99 per cent) that have recovered, and seven people are being hospitalized.
