Province confirms 170 new cases of COVID-19 today, one death

As of Oct. 31, there are 170 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, bringing the total to 77,664 reported cases.

One new death was also reported today bringing the provincial total to 851 Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 have died.

There are currently 2,122 cases that are active.

The new cases in Northern Saskatchewan are located in the Far North West (13), North West (18), North Central (12) and North East (11).

One-third (33.5 per cent) of new cases are in the age category of 11 years and under.

More than one-quarter (26.5 per cent) of new cases eligible for vaccination (aged 12 years and older) were fully vaccinated.

As of Oct. 31, a total of 226 individuals are hospitalized; including 172 inpatient hospitalizations, and 54 ICU hospitalizations. Of the 226 patients, 157 (69.5 per cent) were not fully vaccinated.

Twenty-four residents are in out-of-province ICUs. As these patients are receiving care out of province, this number is not included in the hospitalization counts in dashboard.

1,226,344 COVID-19 tests have been performed in the province. As of October 28, 2021, when other provincial and national numbers were available from PHAC, Saskatchewan’s per capita rate was 1,032,838 tests performed per million. The national rate was 1,212,788 tests performed per million.

The seven-day average of new COVID-19 case numbers was 193 (16.1 new cases per 100,000).

NITHA numbers

There are five new cases to report today in NITHA communities.

Three (60 per cent) were unvaccinated, two (40 per cent) are partially vaccinated and 0 were fully vaccinated.

There are 162 active cases of COVID-19 in NITHA communities.

These cases are located in the Far North Central (Athabasca), 0; Far North West, 42; Far North East, 85; North Central, 19; and North East, 16. There have been 6606 cases (97 per cent) that have recovered, and 11 people are being hospitalized.
