Seven Prince Albert emergency workers are being honoured for their long careers.

They’re each receiving the Saskatchewan Protective Services Medal which is given to individuals who’ve put in at least 25 years in their fields.

The medal includes the motto Qui civitatem tuentar which means ‘who guard the citizenry.’

Among the P.A. honourees are five people with the community’s police service: Chief Jonathan Bergen, Constable Cara Court, Staff Sergeant Lawrie George, Inspector Brent McDonald, and Sergeant Rhonda Meakin.

Two others are with the P.A. Fire Department: Fire Chief Kris Olsen and Inspector Bradley Antonson.

Coralee Dutchak with Parkland Ambulance Service will also be recognized.

Along with the medals, each will also receive a certificate signed by Lieutenant Governor Russ Mirasty, Premier Scott Moe, and the provincial secretary.

In total, 166 emergency workers from across Saskatchewan are being honoured.

Ceremonies were previously held in Regina and Saskatoon with the final one happening on Thursday at the EA Rawlinson Centre for the Arts in Prince Albert.
