Two teens arrested in relation to city’s first homicide of 2026

The Prince Albert Police Service is reporting their first homicide of the year after an investigation near downtown on Thursday.
Just before 2 a.m., police were called to a report of a stabbing in the unit block of 14th Street East. Arriving officers quickly located 27-year old Daina Gauthier suffering from serious injuries, and began first aid treatment before paramedics arrived on scene.
Parkland Ambulance then transported Gauthier to hospital, where she later died.
A 16-year-old male and a 15-year-old female have been arrested and are in custody. A court date has not been set.
