The community of Big River and surrounding areas are coming together to help a local father who is recovering from a serious collision earlier this month.

According to the organizer of a Go Fund Me page, Jeremy Konkel was driving to get firewood on Sept. 11 when the collision happened.

He was pinned under a car for 26 hours and managed to dig himself free with a pocket knife, but sustained extensive damage to his left arm.

Konkel is currently recovering in Saskatoon University Hospital and undergoing multiple surgeries to try to save his arm.
