Saskatchewan reports highest daily case total since beginning of pandemic

The province has officially reported its highest daily number of new COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began with another 449 new cases reported today.

Of these new cases, 387 cases are in unvaccinated individuals. That is 86 per cent of new cases.

Also of the new cases, 148 are in Saskatchewan residents between the ages of 0-19, 75 are between the ages of 20-29, and 84 cases are between 30-39. That is a cumulative percentage of 68 per cent of new cases under the age of 40.

As of Sept. 13, the six northern zones of the province currently have 1,900 active cases of COVID-19. The Far North West saw an increase of 19 cases overnight to sit at 207; the Far North Central remains at 19; the Far North East an increase of two cases to currently sit at 310; the North West an increase of 50 cases to sit at 535 active cases; the North Central total decreased by 19 cases to sit at 629 currently active; and the North East zone saw an increase of 17 to currently sit at 200 active cases.

Provincially, there are currently 3,776 active cases across the 13 zones of Saskatchewan.

NITHA Data

There are 43 new cases to report today in NITHA communities; 28 (65 per cent) were unvaccinated, seven (16 per cent) are partially vaccinated and eight (19 per cent) were fully vaccinated.

There are 368 active cases of COVID-19 in NITHA communities. These cases are located in the Far North Central (Athabasca), 18; Far North West, 34; Far North East, 205; North Central, 60; and North East, 51.

There are 4,964 cases (92 per cent) have recovered, and 11 people are hospitalized.

There are 117 active cases of COVID-19 Variants of Concern (VOCs) in NITHA communities. These cases are located in the Far North Central; one, Far North West, 16; and Far North East, 56; North Central, 22; and North East, 22.

Athabasca Health Authority (AHA)

According to the AHA Facebook page, another four set to recover were reported on Sept. 12 in Fond Du Lac and no new case were reported that day. There has been 11 recoveries recorded in Fond Du Lac within the past three days.

“We encourage all AHA communities to continue to follow all the frequently shared CoVID-19 prevention measures. We are confident that we will come out strong. Continue to stay safe and get vaccinated,” stated AHA in their recent COVID update post.
