FSIN first vice-chief tests positive for COVID-19

A prominent Saskatchewan First Nations leader has been diagnosed with COVID-19.

In a news release, Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations First Vice-Chief Morley Watson said he received a positive result on Monday.

According to the release, Watson went to two events in early September and had some mild cold symptoms, and “out of an abundance of caution,” went to get tested.

“I was told that positive results are communicated quickly, so after nearly three days without news, and no further symptoms, I presumed I was negative,” Watson said in the release. “On Sunday, Sept. 5, I attended the Muskowekwan Sports day for a brief time early that afternoon.”

He said it was never his intention to risk harming anyone.
