Riding snapshot: A look at the race in Ottawa Centre

Previously a longtime NDP riding, Ottawa Centre switched to the Liberals in 2015 under Catherine McKenna, a cabinet minister who decided not to seek re-election. The NDP will be trying to regain this prime piece of political real estate while the Liberals work to keep the riding red with a former provincial minister as their candidate. 

Population:118,038 (Elections Canada)

Main challengers:Liberal candidate Yasir Naqvi, former attorney general of Ontario; Conservative candidate Carol Clemenhagen, a former health-care industry executive; NDP candidate Angella MacEwen, a labour economist; and Green party candidate Angela Keller-Herzog, an economist and owner of a bed and breakfast.
