Stolen Suzuki

P.A. resident pleas for return of ‘irreplaceable’ motorcycle

Aug 1, 2021 | 10:00 AM

It’s an orange 1974 Suzuki, 185 CC motorcycle – a distinctive bike in its own right, but for Cole Berge it’s so much more and he wants it back.

“My dad gave me the bike when I was 14 and I used to ride it around Red Wing,” Berge said.

The motorcycle was reported stolen on July 27 between the hours of 12:30 a.m. and 7 a.m. from the Red Wing area.

“Somebody decided to steal it, which is really unfortunate,” Berge said. “They cut the fence and stole it out of the compound.”

The ’74 Suzuki sat on his dad’s property for years until Berge started restoring it last year. He had already put $1,500 into the bike before it was stolen and even managed to find original decals.

“It deteriorated away to nothing. The seat was covered in moss and destroyed, and the gas tank wasn’t on it but I pulled it out of the bush and put fuel in it and kicked it and the thing started and ran.”

Berge said the bike is probably worth $3,000 but to him it’s irreplaceable.

“You don’t see an orange 185 around too often.”

He’s hoping someone notices the distinctive bike and calls the RCMP or Crimestoppers. In the meantime, neighbours are combing through security cam footage, hoping to get a lead on any suspects.

Anyone with information related to this theft can call 310-RCMP or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
