Shooting opposite P.A. school

Prince Albert Police Service (PAPS) has detained several people following an incident involving a firearm early this afternoon opposite Queen Mary Elementary School. No one at the school was harmed.

According to a media release, officers were called to the 1000 Block of 15th Street West just before 1 p.m. for a report of a shooting. Officers arrived quickly and located one man in need of medical attention, who was transported to hospital in Prince Albert.

The extent of the man’s injuries are not known at this time.

Police have contained the area around the school as they investigate this incident and the public may notice a large police presence in the area for the rest of this afternoon.

The school is currently taking precautions to ensure the safety of students and staff. No students or staff at Queen Mary School were injured in this incident, according to PAPS.

Police do not believe there are more suspects at large, but will remain in the area for most of the afternoon as they investigate.
