Apr 9, 2020 | 5:38 PM

Police are investigating after a three-year-old girl died this afternoon.

Members of the Prince Albert Police Service were called to a home on the 800 block of 17th Street West last night. Officers assisted members of Parkland Ambulance as they responded to a person in cardiac arrest.

Upon investigating, police found the girl unresponsive. Paramedics conducted life-saving efforts while en route to the Victoria Hospital. The girl was transported to the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital in Saskatoon.

The girl was declared deceased this afternoon by medical staff.

Police say an autopsy will be performed in the coming week to determine the cause and manner of death. Further information will be released following the conclusion of the autopsy.

Members from the Prince Albert Police Service Criminal Investigations Division and Forensic Identification Section continue to investigate.
