Major fur trade event set for Prince Albert
Furs from many of the hundreds of trappers across the North will head to market in Prince Albert on Saturday for the Northern Saskatchewan Trappers Association (NSTA) Fur Table.
Organizers of the event say it’s not just an important economic opportunity but a way to continue a vital way of life.
“It’s a livelihood for us,” Jarret Nelson, the acting president of the NSTA told paNOW. “It’s not only a market we look for, it’s in our blood, it’s who we are. Trapping built this country.”
At least five buyers are expected at the market. Some are from the local region, but others will be coming in from Illinois in the United States and Eastern Canada.
