Titans extend winning streak to six games to become hottest team in the PJHL

What in the world has gotten into the Prince Albert Titans lately?

They defeated the Saskatoon Royals 5-1 on Wednesday at the Kinsmen Arena to win their sixth game in a row.

The only other Prairie Junior Hockey League team even in the same ball park in terms of their current winning streak are the first place Saskatoon Quakers, who have also won their last six contests.

This streak comes a year after the Titans won six games in all 40 regular season games last season.

Talon Thomas scored another two goals for the Titans in the victory. He also had a pair in the Titans’ 4-3 win over the Delisle Chiefs on Sunday on home ice.

After Thomas scored twice in the second period, Ben Zultok scored to make it a 3-0 Titans lead after 40 minutes of play.

The Royals got on the board midway through the third period, when Damon Vanderlinde made it 3-1. But Kevin Ledoux scored a shorthanded goal three minutes later and Kale Amundrud scored a shorthanded goal with 47 seconds left for the victory.

Carson Schewaga made 46 saves on 47 shots in the win for the Titans.

The Titans had a bit of a slow start to the year, but now sit at a respectable 7-9-2 record on the year and are threatening the top three spots in the Bob Dybvig Division.

The Titans will take on the Southern Rebels from Assiniboia (4-6-2) on Sunday at the Kinsmen Arena.
