Alleged roof jumper chooses to stay in custody
A man who allegedly jumped off the roof of Prince Albert’s Gateway Mall to escape police has waived his right to a bail hearing.
Jade Ermine, 30, instead is scheduled to enter a plea next week at Prince Albert Provincial Court.
Ermine, whose attendance was waived Wednesday morning at a court hearing, faces over a dozen charges including possession of stolen property, assault with a weapon on a peace officer, and flight from police causing bodily harm.
Last month, Ermine was wanted on a number of outstanding warrants. During a police pursuit north of the city on August 20, an officer was injured. The details of how the injury happened remain unclear, nor has it been disclosed how serious the officer’s injuries were. Ermine was arrested the following day in Prince Albert.
