XFM Rock station hands out convertible

Aug 17, 2019 | 3:49 PM

Lakeland Ford was a busy place Saturday afternoon.

Hundreds of people packed in to the dealership’s showroom as XFM prepared to hand out the Rock Machine. This year the car was a Mercedes convertible.

Those who had qualified were invited to pull keys from a bag and then try to unlock a chest which held the keys to the car.

Eventually after a number of contestants tried with no success, Stephen Nelson pulled key number 77 from the bag.

Nelson, who had never entered the Rock Machine competition before said it was quite a feeling to find out he was the winner.

“It’s outstanding. I didn’t think I was going to win and when that thing turned, I was in shock,” he said.

Nelson added he really likes the vehicle and hopes the weather will cooperate so he can drop the top on the convertible.

“Hopefully we get some sun. The rest of August is going to be sweet,” he said.
