PAPS arrests youth with weapons, returns credit cards

Following a call about suspicious activity in the 20th St. and Fourth Ave. E. area Tuesday, a 14-year-old boy and a 21-year-old man are facing weapons-related charges

Police were dispatched to the area just after 11 p.m. and located a knife, a homemade machete and ammunition on the pair.

The youth is facing charges of carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a dangerous weapon and obstruction.

The 21-year-old man was arrested on outstanding warrants and is facing additional charges of possession of a dangerous weapon, unauthorized possession of a weapon, possession of a prohibited weapon, obstruction and possession of ammunition.

Both accused appeared in court this morning.

In an unrelated incident, members of the Prince Albert Police Service were able to recover a resident’s stolen identification and credit cards shortly after they were taken on Tuesday.

The complainant reported the theft just after 7 p.m. Tuesday and advised her credit card was used to purchase items at two local businesses. Officers reviewed surveillance footage to get a description of a suspect, locating him around 8:40 p.m. in the 200 block of 14th St. W.

Police located a number of other items, including two grams of methamphetamine on the man’s person. The 34-year-old man is charged with theft, fraud and possession of a controlled substance in relation to this incident. Police returned the complainant’s personal identification.
