Prince Albert trees remain Dutch Elm Disease free
For the third straight year, the trees in Prince Albert appear to be free of Dutch Elm Disease.
The City has not seen a positive case of Dutch Elm Disease (DED) in any of the trees in Prince Albert since July of 2023, when a single infected tree in the Riverview area had to be removed.
This is in contrast to Melfort just down the road, which identified over 100 trees infected with DED each of the last two years.
Prince Albert does two surveys every year; this year they took place from June 24-30 and from August 15-18, and earlier this summer they even pre-treated trees in Kinsmen Park in an effort to protect them for three years.
