Prince Albert police confirm missing teenager found deceased

The Prince Albert Police Service has now officially confirmed the person found deceased last week on the city’s southeast side, was the 14-year-old girl who had been reported missing at the end of June.

An autopsy conducted on Wednesday day confirmed the identity as Peyton Flett.

The circumstances surrounding her death remain under investigation by the Prince Albert Police Service Major Crimes Unit.

“The Prince Albert Police Service extends its condolences to Peyton’s family, friends, and all those affected by her death. The family has been notified of the autopsy findings,” the police service said in a statement.

Peyton was reported missing on June 30.

On Aug. 13, police located a deceased individual in the 300 block of 40th street East during a search conducted as part of the investigation into Peyton’s disappearance.

Police are asking anyone who may have information regarding Peyton’s disappearance or the circumstances surrounding her death to contact the Prince Albert Police Services. Information can also be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers.

A vigil is scheduled to take place Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. on the riverbank near the MMIW memorial.
