Alleged occupants of vehicle that crashed into home make first court appearances

Jun 29, 2026 | 11:35 AM

Three days after a vehicle crashed into the side of a multi-unit housing structure in Prince Albert’s East Flat neighbourhood, a set of tire marks remains clearly visible on the lawn, and a section of the damaged building has been boarded up.

The two women arrested by police on Friday made their first court appearances Monday morning by video from Pine Grove Correctional Centre.

Larissa Powder and Zaria Michel each face several firearm-related charges in relation to the loaded shotgun found in the vehicle. Powder is alleged to have been behind the wheel and has been charged with dangerous driving.

They were remanded to Tuesday morning for possible bail hearings.

According to a news release issued Saturday by the Prince Albert Police Service, officers were first dispatched at about 2:19 a.m. to a business in the 2700 block of 15th Avenue East after a report of a man pointing a firearm at another man.

When officers arrived, both the suspect and the victim had left the scene.

Police said surveillance video from the business showed the suspect and another man physically fighting in the parking lot while the suspect was holding what appeared to be a firearm. The suspect left the area in a car before officers arrived.

Police said there did not appear to be any visible injuries to either man in the video. Investigators also said the suspect and victim appeared to know each other and that the incident is not considered random.

At about 2:59 a.m., officers located the suspect vehicle back in the area of the original business. Police said the vehicle fled north on 15th Avenue East at high speed after its occupants noticed officers. No traffic stop had been initiated.

Additional officers searching the area immediately located the vehicle after it had collided with a house in the 1400 block of Fourth Street East.

Police said the occupants of the home were not injured, but the collision caused significant property damage.

An initial search of the vehicle found a loaded sawed-off shotgun, which police believe had been used in the original offence.

A third male suspect fled the scene and, according to the latest update from police, has not been located.
