Predators on the road for remainder of season

Jun 2, 2026 | 2:01 PM

The Kinsmen Arena in Prince Albert will be without Predators lacrosse for the next month.

The Junior B club is set to hit the road for final three weeks of their regular season schedule, which includes stops in Weyburn, Swift Current, Moose Jaw, and Winnipeg.

Preds head coach Lucas Wells said he’s most looking forward to the memories the team will make on the bus.

“I think we’re all looking forward to it, I know I am,” he said. “Getting on the road, bonding with the guys a little bit more. When you’re on the road, you kind of turn into more of a family as opposed to going your separate ways after games, right? Living Friday, Saturday, Sunday on a bus, will do that to a team.”

Prince Albert played the first six games of the season at home, ending the first half at 5-1. The lone loss came on May 9 against the Swift Current Wolverines, where P.A. fell 8-7. Meanwhile, two of their wins were via forfeit as Weyburn failed to field a team for their doubleheader on May 30. The record places the Predators second in the junior standings with 10 points, trailing only the Wolverines who have 12 points, but four more games played.

Matthew Cudmore leads the team in the points department thus far with 23 (7G-16A), followed by Ryley Prediger with 16 (7G-9A), Chase Lehner with 15 (8G-7A), and Braden Shewchuk with 13 (6G-7A).

“I thought we had a very successful front half. I thought that we battled some adversity and we had a very tough schedule to start the year. We’re going to Swift [Current] this weekend, so I’m looking for a big bounce back game from our guys there, especially after they beat us earlier in the year.”

The biggest stop on the trip will be in Winnipeg, where the Predators will play three games in not only a new environment, but against a new team in the Blizzard. From what Wells has seen and heard from around the league, he expects the weekend to be some of the best lacrosse throughout the season.

“I’ve heard they get a lot of fans in their games, and I’ve watched most of their games online as well. They’re a fast team, physical team. They have some good offensive weapons, and their goaltender is very good, so it’s going to be a big test for us. We’re going to be short a couple of guys just due to other commitments, but we’re looking forward to making our mark down there and getting to see what they’re all about.”

The back half of the regular season for the Predators will be as follows:

  • June 6 @ Swift Current (S3 Arenas West) – 7 p.m.
  • June 13 @ Winnipeg (Notre Dame Recreation Association Rink) – 12 p.m./8 p.m.
  • June 14 @ Winnipeg (Notre Dame Recreation Association Rink) – 12 p.m.
  • June 20 @ Moose Jaw (Kinsmen Arena) – 7 p.m.
  • June 21 @ Weyburn (Tom Zandee Sports Arena) – 1 p.m.

A playoff schedule will be announced later this month.

Outlaws chalk up first win of season

The Prince Albert Outlaws collected their first dub of the year over the weekend.

The Senior club picked up their first victory in a dominating fashion when they defeated the Moose Jaw Mafia 17-1 on May 29, which was followed by a narrow 18-14 loss in Regina to the Heat the following day.

Talon Sandry led the Outlaws in points over the weekend with 13 (5G-8A), followed by Chase Lehner with 11 (4G-7A) and Sawyer Elphinstone with 10 (4G-6A).

Prince Albert is on the road this coming weekend for a pair of games where they will rematch Regina and Moose Jaw. The ‘laws will battle the Heat on June 6 at 2:30 p.m. before facing the Mafia on June 7 at 2 p.m.
