Police investigate vehicle fire at fenced-in compound

Mar 6, 2024 | 11:37 AM

A pair of vehicles, parked in a fenced-in compound in Prince Albert, have been destroyed by fire.

The incident occurred Tuesday evening in the 100 block of 13th Street East.

Both the city’s fire dept. and police were called to the scene around 7:30 p.m. The cause of the fire is under investigation but is not believed to be accidental.

The building’s owner revealed to paNOW there’s been multiple fires this year in the lot, and all efforts to keep people out have not been successful.

Citing ongoing issues with drug users and prostitutes using the cars as a safe shelter, the owner said they feel helpless and are not sure what to do.

It appears entry may have been gained by breaking a section of the fence. (Nigel Maxwell/ paNOW Staff)
