The Prince Albert Raiders put the finishing touches on an impressive month of February with another strong performance on home ice Wednesday night.

The Raiders downed the Red Deer Rebels 5-1 at the Art Hauser Centre. Forward Sloan Stanick led the way with three points, while defenceman Doogan Pederson scored his second career WHL goal. Raiders goaltender Max Hildebrand made 26 stops for his 22nd win of the season.

The Raiders improved to 28-26-1-3 on the season and finish February with a 7-3 record as they continue to occupy a playoff spot in the WHL’s Eastern Conference. The Rebels meanwhile fell to 30-21-2-6.

The Raiders play in Brandon Friday night. Prince Albert is four points back of the Wheat Kings for sixth spot in the conference.

Wednesday was also This Girl Can Night at the Art Hauser Centre, with the Raiders celebrating women and girls in hockey and sport.

Various teams and players from Prince Albert were in attendance, including Brooke Hobson and Kaitlin Willoughby, who both play in the Professional Women’s Hockey League. Nancy Dragan, a University of Saskatchewan Huskies hockey alumni and professional dog sled racer, was also a part of the evening.

This Girl Can Night was also aimed at promoting and empowering women in all aspects of life.
