Jan 22, 2024 | 5:00 PM

There was no shortage of dives, blocks or gym-shaking spikes, when the Prince Albert Optimist Toppers hosted a 16-team volleyball tournament on Sunday.

And Carlton Comprehensive High School set the stage for the highly competitive U14 and U17 teams.

While all the local teams looked very strong on the court, it was the U16 En Fuego squad that finished first amongst the U17 teams.

Prior to facing the Yorkon-based CVVC Chargers in the finals, the En Fuego squad knocked off the U16 Esprit team.

En Fuego also finished first after the initial pool play and lost only one set along the way.

Amongst the U14 teams, the Toppers En Fuego team won bronze and had to beat a familiar foe – the U14 Esprit.

Finishing fifth in that tournament was the U13 En Fuego team.
