Jan 7, 2024 | 5:15 PM

The Mann-Northway Northern Bears are returning to Prince Albert with two points following their two-game set in Wilcox against the Notre Dame Hounds.

The weekend was the first games of 2024 for the Bears as they began the year on the right foot on Saturday afternoon.

Down 2-1 entering the third, captain Julia Cey took a feed from Tristyn Endicott and scored her second of the contest, forcing overtime. While in the extra frame, rookie Emery Rogers potted the game winner, which also happened to be her first at the U18AAA level.

Also finding the scoresheet for the Bears was Elizabeth Udell, Kinley Brassard, and Bree Purcell while Annika Neufeldt was in goal and stopped 33 shots.

Game two happened early Sunday afternoon, however, the result was much different than a day prior.

The Bears quickly fell 3-1 after the first period before giving up another three goals in the second, making it 6-1 heading into the third. Thankfully, P.A. managed to stop the bleeding in the frame while also adding one to their goal total to end the game 6-2.

Udell and Cey had the two markers for the Black and Orange in the contest while Rogers, Endicott, and Mikiya Anderson picked up the helpers.

Nikita Krayetski got the start in goal and made 13 saves before being pulled in the second. Neufeldt came into relieve and turned aside 12 shots.

Following the weekend, the Bears are now 2-10-1-3 (W-L-OTW-OTL) on the campaign.

Prince Albert returns to action on Thursday night when they welcome the Battlefords Sharks to the Art Hauser Centre. Puck drop is at 7:00 p.m.
