Truck believed to have caused P.A. crash found, 18-year-old man arrested

Nov 23, 2023 | 2:55 PM

-An earlier version stated the 18-year-old man arrested was charged with attempted murder. He has been arrested but not charged at this time.

An 18-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly causing the crash that sent five people to the hospital in Prince Albert.

Back on Sunday, a vehicle struck a power pole on 22nd Street East near the Cooke Municipal Golf Course. Everyone in the vehicle was sent to the hospital with the 22-year-old driver needing to be flown to Regina where he continues to receive care.

It was first believed to have been a single-vehicle collision, however, it was later determined that a red GMC truck had discharged a firearm at the vehicle, striking the driver which caused him to crash.

Fast forward to Thursday when Carlyle RCMP and Moosomin RCMP initiated a traffic stop of a red GMC truck in Wawota. It was determined it was the suspect vehicle with the 18-year-old man, who has not been named at this time, being put under arrest. It wasn’t mentioned if they were the driver or if someone else was in the vehicle.

Meanwhile, P.A. police say their investigation continues.
