Horizon School Division loses $3.8K after employee allegedly steals fuel

Oct 13, 2023 | 12:00 PM

The Horizon School Division, based in Humboldt, is reporting a loss of roughly $3,800.

According to a release from Saskatchewan’s Ministry of Education, this was because of a suspected theft of fuel by an employee.

The loss was reported in the fourth quarter of the school division’s fiscal year, June 1st to August 31st, however, the fuel was taken between September 2022 and February 2023.

The employee no longer works for Horizon with the Ministry of Education noting the situation was handed over to the RCMP who’ve since laid charges.

northeastNOW has reached out to RCMP to confirm whether charges have been laid, but at this time they can’t comment.

This isn’t the first time Horizon has had to deal with an employee allegedly stealing from them. During the fourth quarter of 2022, an employee allegedly stole around $4,600.
