Two people are facing charges concerning a drug bust at Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation.

On Oct. 3, Saskatchewan RCMP’s Meadow Lake and La Ronge Crime Reduction Teams were conducting proactive patrols in the community and around 11 p.m. performed a traffic stop.

Officers observed illicit drugs and paraphernalia in the vehicle and arrested the two occupants.

Approximately 244 grams of suspected methamphetamine was seized, along with three prohibited firearms, ammunition, weapons including brass knuckles, a sum of cash and trafficking paraphernalia.

Lexis Storoschuk, 22, from Spruce Home, and Kevin Ackegan, 43, from Saskatoon face a number of gun-related charges, possession for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of property obtained by crime less than $5,000.

Ackegan is also charged with failing to comply with a probation order, possessing a weapon contrary to order, and failing to surrender authorization.

He was also arrested on a warrant from Prince Albert Police Service.
